Beginnings

Today is a new beginning, it is a new day, a new week, a new month, and a new year. WOW! Of all the things I do and have done in my life there is only one thing that matters.I want to leave a legacy for my children. When I went to grandmother's funeral a few years ago, the saddest part was that so many of my cousins had rejected the legacy that had been given them. My grandparents met in church as little children. The spent over 60 years together and raised 9 children.  The have over 30 grandchildren plus lots of greats and soon great-greats.  So many didn't take the baton of christianity and carry it on. That is the saddest story of all! I am greatly blessed that my father did accept the legacy and that I did as well. I want to hand it down to my children. I am very excited about reading through the Bible this year and hopefully hearing that you reading along with me. I pray for all of you everyday and sometimes more than once a day! Nothing else I do in this life will ever matter. Sharing the word of God is the only thing that is eternal.

Gen 1-3 the creation. God created everything in this world including man, woman and the institution of marriage. A few thoughts this morning:
1. What would the world have been like if man hadn't fallen (from Dad)?
2. I personally think that garden of Eden is what heaven will be like. The most important and exciting part is walking and talking with God. We can talk to him now, but imagine how it will be then to have a real conversation with him.
3. There are so many questions that people like to ask about the beginning, creation Adam and Eve, but scripture says that God has given us all we need for life and godliness. He has told us everything we need to know and nothing is left out that will keep us out of heaven. While it is fun to speculate on what could have been( like did they live in the garden for millions of years first?), it is not necessary for us to know. We have everything that is pertinent to our salvation.
3. My other thought was about marriage. God instituted  marriage in the beginning and established what a godly home should look like. Everyone talks about Eve and her following Satan, but look what God says to Adam. "Since you listened to your wife" What was wrong with listening to his wife? Communication is important, right? However, he followed her down the wrong path. God gave the husband spiritual leadership of the family from the beginning. What a burden, but if he follows Christ, then a godly woman will have no problem following him.  On the other hand, there is a lesson for all of us not to follow anyone down the wrong road. Study and know the scriptures for yourselves and stand for the right is important to both men and women.

  1. Hey, you took my thought! Yes I wondered what it would be like if we hadn't fallen. Second thought was that man was always destined for work. We were always meant to work, even in the garden. So much work that we required a helpmate. But were we suppose to sweat while working? Was child birth going to last 9 months? Since there wasn't going to be pain? Third thought was the land of the garden was the richest (in gold and precious stones) why?
